As human beings it is in our nature to have wishes, hopes, dreams and goals.
We have dreams for the future, where we see ourself in the next year, 5 or 10 years. We have dreams for our family, our loved ones, we want only the best for them and to see them be healthy and happy. Sometimes our dreams may even be somewhat 'fantastical', somewhat 'unreachable', maybe even somewhat 'utopian'. And that's ok, because they're your's and not anybody else's. What works for you may not work for others and what works for others may completely not be your style. Don't let anyone tell you your dreams are too big or even too small.
Sometimes wishes, hopes, and dreams will remain just that - wishes, hopes, and dreams. And sometimes they will turn into goals. Goals you work towards to create exactly that which you want for your future. And yes, you have to work to change your wishes, hopes, and dreams into goals. And yes, you have to work to achieve your goals. You make a plan, you set a time line with deadlines for reaching the smaller steps along the way, you may do some research to find information that will assist you. Creating goals for yourself is an important part of creating a healthy life. By setting goals you are keeping your personal development and growth alive, which is not only beneficial for your body, by activating the cells for healthy reproduction, but also for your mind. Setting goals affects things such as your creativity and imagination, problem solving skills, and analytical thinking. Setting goals for yourself keeps you motivated, keeps you busy so you don't end up bored and in a rut.
Setting goals is healthy for body, mind and soul. So as 2018 starts, ask yourself - What wishes, hopes, dreams and GOALS do I have for this year?
